3 Ridiculously Easy Ways to Give to Your Favorite Cause

Oftentimes when we think of giving to charity we get stuck on the charity we want to help and the best way we can donate funds to their worthy cause. Do we want to donate on their web site, via their app, on Facebook, or even send them a check? Do they have a special campaign going on? Will there be matching funds? Where does your money go anyway?

There is a lot to consider when donating to a cause that is dear to you. We want to make donating a little easier with three incredibly simple ways you can give to a charity you love.

Hunger Relief Fund

As we mentioned last week, eight global relief organizations came together to raise funds from American citizens to help the 20 million people who are on the brink of starvation right now in the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa. No donation is too small and every donation will be matched up to two million dollars by the Pepsico Foundation and BlackRock. The Hunger Relief Fund appeal by the Global Emergency Response Coalition made up of CARE, Save the Children, International Medical Corps, International Rescue Committee, Mercy Corps, World Vision, Oxfam, and Plan International lasts through July 28 so act fast and literally help save a life.

Donate Your Spare Change

There is a new service slated to launch next month called Drops. Based out of Los Angeles, you can connect your credit or debit card to your dropsaccount and Drops will round up your spare change and do from your everyday purchases like gas and groceries and donate it to the charity of your choice. Many of their charities are based in LA, but others like Heifer International and Big Brothers and Big Sisters are on board.

Drops charges 2.9% + .30 to your donations. If you would like 100% of your donation to go directly to charity you can opt to add Drops’ service charge to your donation amount. Drops only charges your card when your spare change reaches $5 or $10.

Sign up with Drops to start donating in August.

Shop, Save + Browse for Good

Nearly everyone shops online these days. In fact, 80% of Americans shopped online this month alone and with back-to-school and the holidays coming up, that percentage is sure to increase.

Goodshop has created a browser extension called Gumdrop that is compatible with Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari that allows you to shop and receive automatic coupon codes to save you money. And, when you shop, a portion of what you spend will be donated to the charity of your choice. If you don’t see the charity you’d like to donate to, you can add it in. Watch the video below to see how simple it is.

To date, Gumdrop has saved shoppers more than $100 million and donated nearly $13 million to charity.
